Unlike other lumps, lipomas are soft and can be moved slightly under the skin. They will only become painful if they press on a nerve.

Based at our Milton Keynes clinic, our qualified GP is dedicated to providing a safe and effective treatment tailored to each individual patient. Following a consultation, lipoma removal will be carried out under a local anaesthetic to minimise discomfort.
During the minor surgery, which will take less than 45 minutes, incisions will be made to cut the lipoma from the skin. Stitches will then be applied to close the wound covered by a dressing to prevent infection. Unless otherwise informed, dissolvable stitches will be used and should dissolve within 10 days.
If our GP has any concerns about the lipoma tissue, he can send a sample for a histology test at a nearby lab for a quick assessment to see if cancerous tissue is present. Any histology undertaken will be an additional cost which will be discussed at your appointment.
